Information We Collect
When you submit a contact or consult request, we collect the details you provide — typically your name, organisation, email, phone number and a summary of your matter. We do not collect this information through any other means on this site.
Standard web technologies used to operate this site may also record limited technical information, such as your IP address, general location, device or browser type, and the pages you visit. This is used only to keep the site secure and working properly, and is not used to identify you personally.
How We Use It
We use enquiry details solely to respond to your request, scope potential engagements, and maintain records required for client and matter management. We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not use it for marketing without your consent.
Free Tools Run in Your Browser
Our free tools — including the hash calculator, EXIF viewer, email header analyser and timestamp converter — process the file or text you provide locally, in your browser. Nothing you paste or upload is sent to our servers or stored by us.
Confidentiality of Matters
Information you share with us about a forensic matter is treated as confidential and, where applicable, may be subject to legal professional privilege. Access is restricted to consultants directly involved in your engagement.
How We Handle Data When You Engage Us
When you engage us for a forensic matter, you may provide us with devices, images, exports or other evidentiary material. This data is handled under strict chain-of-custody procedures and stored on encrypted drives, accessible only to the consultants working on your matter. Data in transit between you and us is also encrypted.
Original evidence is preserved unaltered; all examination is performed on forensic copies. Material is retained only for as long as your engagement and our professional obligations require, and is then securely wiped or returned, in line with your instructions.
Drives used across matters are cleansed between engagements using forensic-standard zeroing passes, so no data or information from one matter can cross-contaminate another.
Cookies and Analytics
This site may use essential cookies to remember basic preferences (such as light or dark mode) and aggregate, privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are useful. These do not identify you personally.
Sharing with Third Parties
We do not share your personal information with third parties except: service providers who help us operate this site or manage client records (bound by confidentiality obligations), or where required by law or court order. Where possible we store your information within Australia; where a service provider stores data overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives a comparable level of protection to that required under Australian privacy law, and we do not knowingly store information in jurisdictions subject to high-risk or cryptography-restrictive regimes.
Data Retention
We retain enquiry and matter records for as long as needed to deliver our services and meet our legal and professional obligations, after which they are securely deleted.
Your Rights
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, request corrections, or ask us to delete information we are not required to retain. To make a request, contact us using the details below — we aim to respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you believe we have breached your privacy rights, contact us with details of what happened and how you'd like it resolved — we will investigate and respond in writing. If you're not satisfied with our response, you may raise the matter with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
